Community Benefits Agreements (CBAs) are legal agreements that are negotiated between community coalitions, developers, and/or public institutions (Gross et. al, 2008). The research focus is on developing a new framework for planning that allows for participatory planning, affordable housing, and is crucial for inclusivity in the future of planning.

The learning objectives:

By the end of this session participants will have learned:

1.1. The significance, definition, and how CBAs promote the "common good," in the planning practice.

1.2. The significance of CBAs to the future of planning policies (Bill 108, section 37, and federal policy).
