Fotenn is an award-winning planning, urban design, and landscape architecture firm with offices in Ottawa, Kingston, and Toronto. Established in 1992, the firm is celebrating over thirty successful years founded on a commitment to a responsive and personal approach and to the honest and fair treatment of our clients and the communities in which we work. / Urban Planning - From large-scale master plans to residential infill projects, our team of urban planners offers comprehensive services in policy formulation and development approvals to a range of public and private-sector clients. / Urban Design - Our urban design studio creates engaging design solutions that are underpinned by our renowned expertise in land use planning and design. Ranging from large, transit-oriented developments and master plans to concepts that analyze the development potential for individual sites, our urban design projects push the boundaries of creativity while reflecting our comprehensive experience, knowledge of current trends, and innovative vision, to keep us at the forefront of the Canadian urban design scene. 


/ Landscape Architecture - Our landscape architecture teams approach is defined by a comprehensive understanding of how peoples lives shape, and are shaped by, their environments. Whether creating large scale master plans, or a small urban park, our team of landscape architects considers the sites physical surroundings and the needs of the clients and communities, as well as the financial mechanisms, long-term community effects, implementation, maintenance, and management of the project. This allows us to present design solutions that appropriately address functional and aesthetic concerns.

Matt Reid, Principal, Planning and Policy

Matt is a Principal of Planning and Policy with over 14 years of experience. Having led over fifty urban design projects, including community and campus master plans, mobility hub studies, urban design guidelines, and peer reviews, Matt has extensive experience coordinating large, complex projects throughout the GTHA and across Canada. Matt establishes a seamless and collaborative working relationship with clients and industry partners to ensure integrated, sustainable, and place-specific solutions for all projects.

As a Planner and Urban Designer, Matt is regularly involved in all aspects of a project, from background research and analysis to the preparation of all final deliverables. He regularly prepares for and facilitates public consultation sessions, as well as internal workshops with municipal clients, landowners, and members of the development community.

Mike Keene, Principal, Planning and Development

Mike is a Principal of Planning and Development. He has over 20 years of professional planning experience in land development, policy planning and facilitation and has completed land use evaluations and planning approvals for private sector developers. Mikes policy work is far-reaching and covers a range of topics including rural and small-town planning, shoreline development and community improvement. His unique approach to planning demonstrates a special understanding for creating appropriate and relevant public consultation opportunities. Mike is also routinely called upon as an expert witness for Ontario Municipal Board hearings.
