Associate, Geospatial and Data Analytics Specialist, Urban Strategies

Justin Miron is the lead data analytics specialist at Urban Strategies. Justin brings expertise in data engineering, spatial analysis, and software development, and he supports the integration of analysis, strategy and design, that is typical of Urban Strategies’ work. Prior to this role at Urban Strategies, Justin worked as a research scientist at Ryerson University’s Urban Forest Research and Ecological Disturbance Lab (UFRED). Here, he developed algorithms and software to detect the presence of tree roots in radar images of the soil subsurface. Also, he was a co-lead of an NSERC-funded quantitative study of the causes of tree decline and mortality on Queens Quay in Toronto. Justin also worked as a database developer in a freelance capacity. Before 2017, Justin held the role of Urban Designer at Urban Strategies, where he worked on the Princeton University 2026 Campus Plan, the Barbados Physical Development Plan, and the Metrolinx Eglinton Crosstown. He led the development of the firm’s Compass survey service. Being trained as both a geographer and as a landscape architect, Justin holds a Masters in Spatial Analysis (Ryerson) and a Masters of Landscape Architecture (Toronto).
